i don't know why some CnEn dictionaries defined 烫金 as "gild; bronze"?

Editor: "bronzing" is a technical term in the printing industry, apparently.

"Bronzing is a special finishing technique in printing where a metallic or pearl effect is applied to the printed surface. The technique involves the use of metallic powders or foils to create a shiny, reflective effect. Bronzing can provide a striking and luxurious finish to printed materials, often used on Book covers and high-end packaging."

Taiwan Panorama turns 40 at the end of this year. To mark the occasion, we have put together an extra-special appointment diary for 2016 on the theme of Taiwan’s museums. Exquisitely bound in a fabric cover with gold blocking, the diary is illustrated with photographs of 12 uniquely Taiwanese museums and their collections, and includes paper cutouts of monkeys to celebrate the Year of the Monkey (2016).

Liu started by studying up on the history of mullet roe and how it’s produced. He selected black as the color of the box, and had it embossed with the image of a mullet in gold foil. This color combination was a clever allusion to the fact that mullet roes are commonly referred to in Taiwan as “black gold.”

Upon saying this, Ke Ching-ming draws out an exquisitely bound volume of The Harvard Classics from the bookshelf in his study. Inside it is a collection of classic literary selections ranging from the ancient Greeks all the way to modern day authors.
