For example, 吃白饭 (chī báifàn) is [chi1 bai2 fan4] in v1, but will be [[chi1 bai2fan4]] in v2. In version 2 entries, the pinyin has double brackets [[...]]. We have started publishing cc-cedict in both versions. V1 is for dictionary apps in their current form, while v2 is for app developers who modify their code in order to take advantage of v2's enhanced pinyin format. In each version, any entries that are currently in the "wrong" version get converted to the "right" version. E.g., [[chi1 bai2fan4]] would be converted back to [chi1 bai2 fan4] for the v1 version, while [chi1 bai2 fan4] would appear as [[chi1 bai2fan4]] in v2 if an editor has updated the entry, or [[chi1bai2fan4]] otherwise. You are invited to use v2 format in your submissions. |
