Some dictionaries don't do it at all. And often, the label is just stating the obvious anyway. Anyway, all entries with two or more senses are being reviewed systematically (because we are reformatting definitions with semicolons). So, suggestions for reformatting any of those entries is just notifying us of something that we already have on our to-do list. (On the other hand, if there is a serious error, or a subtle mistake we may not notice in our review, we welcome corrections. This would include things like an incorrect simplified form, a pinyin error, an incorrect definition, or an English spelling mistake.) In the case of this particular entry, its definition is currently displayed in Pleco as 1. to be touched by a scene 2. to adapt to the situation which is fine, since there are two senses. With the proposed change, it would probably be displayed as 1. (idiom) to be touched by a scene 2. to adapt to the situation which would be unfortunate, since it wrongly suggests that the 1st sense is idiomatic, while the 2nd sense is not. I may discuss this with Pleco and propose a new format such as /(idiom)/to be touched by a scene/to adapt to the situation/ intended to be displayed as (idiom) 1. to be touched by a scene 2. to adapt to the situation In the meantime, I'm leaving the definition as it is. |
