<< review queue entry 72240 - submitted by 'ch_learner21' >> 暴躁的脾气 -------------------------------------- Editor: I don't see the point of your suggestion. There are dozens of synonyms one could add, such as fractious, peppery, shirty, short-tempered, tetchy, bad-tempered, crabby, grouchy ... Is there a reason to add "hot-tempered" specifically? I mean, we already have "irascible", which means "marked by hot temper", i.e. hot-tempered. ABC has a second sense "violent; brutal", and I'm pretty sure our "violent" was copied blindly from ABC. Similarly, Wiktionary has "violent; brutal" and, being somewhat familiar with the editor who added that, I suspect he too was copying from ABC. Other dictionaries don't have that 2nd sense. I'm going to delete it for now. |
