Editor: Can't figure out what your rationale is here. You regard "to oppose" and "to be opposed to" as different senses?

I'd say they both correspond to the following Chinese definition:
持相反、相對的立場;不贊同。
例 「提出反對意見」、「父親反對這門親事」。

父親反對這門親事
"He opposes the marriage." = "He is opposed to the marriage".
No?

Anyway, I think "oppose" should appear at the head of the definition.
It's a better match for 反对 than "fight" because "fight" typically implies physical combat.

"opposition" is not wrong, but in a C-E dictionary, it's implied by the verb gloss "to oppose", so it can be dropped.
Diff:
- 反對 反对 [fan3 dui4] /to fight against/to oppose/to be opposed to/opposition/
# + 反對 反对 [fan3 dui4] /to fight against; to oppose/to be opposed to; opposition/
+ 反對 反对 [fan3 dui4] /to oppose; to be against; to object to/
