Both sources list "thick fluid" which isn't covered by "broth" or "serum", in fact, it's the opposite according to some dictionaries

broth: A thin, clear soup based on stock, to which rice, barley, meat, or vegetables may be added.
serum: the watery, clear portion of an animal fluid
serum: a usually lightweight cosmetic preparation especially for use on the face

For example 泥浆 (mud), 糖浆 (syrup), 熔浆 (lava) etc would make more sense if one understands 浆 to mean a thick fluid.
Diff:
- 漿 浆 [jiang1] /broth/serum/to starch/
# + 漿 浆 [jiang1] /thick fluid, broth, serum; to starch/

- 漿 浆 [jiang4] /starch paste/
+ 漿 浆 [jiang4] /variant of 糨[jiang4]/
#
# Editor:
+ 漿 浆 [jiang1] /thick liquid/to starch/
- 糨 糨 [jiang4] /starch/paste/to starch/
+ 糨 糨 [jiang4] /(of soup, paste etc) thick/
