For example, one dictionary includes the following sense: 喜歡的；看重的。例 「愛女」、「愛妻」、「愛將」, which corresponds to the sense you're proposing. An alternative approach would be to note that one already has a sense defined as "喜歡；喜好" or "to love; to be fond of; to like" and leave it to the user to peruse the 愛 compounds and observe for themself how the meaning of 愛 mutates when it's combined with other characters – how in 愛將, for example, 愛 can be thought of as "favored" or "highly regarded" (and 將 can, oddly enough, in this context mean "subordinate" or "assistant".) I wrote elsewhere about this issue in relation to the character 洗.
