Minor rewording the def.

Sometimes, interviewees will hold back or ask that the interviewer not make a record of some things. This is always a problem when making oral history: everyone wants to show the good and hide the bad. A way of dealing with this problem is to use a pseudonym. If we want to construct women's history, there's nothing wrong with using an alias to get interviewees to speak about their true feelings.

On the other hand, it is necessary for the interviewer to develop a basis of trust to get the maximum amount of information out of the interviewee. However, often over-familiarity leads the interviewer to develop sympathy for the subject, and to reach the same conclusions as the interviewee. It is also possible that the interviewee will want to hide some things and play up others, only providing a one-sided story.

In addition, many prominent people say "those involved are still alive," so they refuse to write memoirs about recent events in Taiwan. Of course some publishing houses or reporters who are anxious to make a historical record may produce unauthorized biographies. But due to differences in the abilities of writers, they won't necessarily hit the most important points. The tradition of hagiography is also very evident in the works of many of these writers.
