"ferocious sea fish" was copied from ABC.
Their source note says it came from Far East, but 青鮫 is not in my copy of Far East.

Dr.eye says "porbeagle", which is a kind of mackerel shark (鯖鯊).

The Chinese Wp article on 'porbeagle' says
鼠鯊(學名:Lamna nasus),又名大西洋鯖鯊 [literally, "Atlantic mackerel shark"]
https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%BC%A0%E9%B2%A8

Wiktionary says "a kind of shark".

M's entry sounds like a shark, indeed like a mackerel shark:
動物名。脊椎動物亞門軟骨魚綱。體強壯而肥大,紡綞形,頭部圓錐形,尾柄平扁,兩側有隆起稜脊,尾鰭大形,後緣為彎月狀。背部呈青藍色。

Chinese Wp article on mackerel sharks says
鼠鯊目(學名:Lamniformes)又稱為鯖鯊(英語:Mackerel shark)...
Note that
a) 青 seems like a plausible alternative for 鯖 in 鯖鯊 (same pr. & similar form)
b) 鮫 is a synonym of 鯊 (both mean "shark").
So the word 青鮫 is very similar in structure to 鯖鯊, which means "mackerel shark".

* * *

Putting all this together,
a) "ferocious sea fish" seems too vague, too general.
b) "mackerel shark" seems close to the mark.
Diff:
- 青鮫 青鲛 [qing1 jiao1] /ferocious sea fish/
+ 青鮫 青鲛 [qing1 jiao1] /mackerel shark/
