I prefer not to copy verbatim. That Wiktionary editor (Wyang) was pretty damn good, although back in 2016 he was still on a learning curve, I think, in terms of the quality of his English definitions. Actually, our current definition was probably copied word for word from ABC. I was tempted to reduce the definition to just "to disperse", and I still think that would be not bad at all: it's succinct and works well on both the literal and figurative level. It's certainly fine for all the examples in the quoted Chinese definition (～围观的人, ～乌云, ～闷热). I think the following would make better examples of figurative usage: - 只要坐在鋼琴旁，琴聲一響，什麼憂愁都被驅散了。 - 驅散了心頭的疑雲。 |
