<< review queue entry 71963 >> 解气 jiě//qì 动 消除心中的气愤。 女儿多次被校霸欺负,妈妈的做法实在太解气了 ------------------------------------------ Editor: I don't think the proposed definition is right. It doesn't match the Chinese definition, 消除心中的气愤, which (literally) means "to dispel the anger one feels in one's heart". "Giving vent to one's anger" means *expressing* one's anger through harsh words or violent actions. That's 撒气, not 解气. 泄 means "give vent" whereas 解 means "dispel; remove". Here are some examples of 解气 usage where feelings of anger are dispelled, but not by means of venting that anger. 1) 气大伤身,推荐一款“解气”茶 爱生气多喝这款茶: * 疏肝解郁玫瑰花 中医认为,玫瑰花味甘微苦,性温,入肝、脾二经。有行气解郁,和血,止痛之功效。... * 三花茶 三花茶具有疏肝解郁、降脂降压等作用。... 2) The following example expresses the thoughts of a girl who is pissed off with a guy who is so wrapped up in his own problems that he hasn't been paying attention to her: 现在你手拿可乐回来了,一副边走边沉思的样子,我恨不得你跌一跤才解气,可你并未跌跤。 "So now I see you coming back with our drinks -- walking and thinking. I was hoping you'd trip, but you didn't." 你跌一跤才解气 means "only if you tripped would my anger be assuaged", not "only if you tripped would I give vent to my anger." * * * Also, 解气 is often used as an adjective: - 太解气 - 那么解气 - 很解气 - 最解气 etc. That is the case in your example (妈妈的做法实在太解气了). Video title: 女儿多次被校霸欺负,妈妈的做法实在太解气了 https://v.qq.com/x/page/l3356gvofo1.html 实在太解气了 here refers to how the viewer feels (namely, gratified to see the villains get their comeuppance) when they watch the video. It does not mean that anyone (the mother, the daughter, or the viewer) gives vent to their anger. Here are some similar examples: - 最后反杀也太解气了! |
