<< review queue entry 71475 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> 1) I think that "control" is just the right word for 控制, and that adding other glosses only serves to blur the picture, diluting the definition with words that don't exactly match 控制. For example, it's not "contain" here: 當年,荷蘭人是世界上第一強國,世界上最大的海權國,控制世界三大洋。 "During those years, Holland was the strongest country in the world, the greatest maritime power on earth, and they controlled three great oceans of the world." Meanwhile, it's hard to find an example where "control" is *not* appropriate. 2) Usage as a noun or attributive can be inferred from the verb sense, and in any case is illustrated by many of our entries such as - 控制室 /control room/ - 氣動控制 /pneumatic control/ - 自動控制 /automatic control/ |
