Restoring the latest edit

Latest change log entry #62,728 (year 2016): /not want/

Older change log #33,386 (year 2011): /unexpectedly/

Why the older one (unexpectedly) is the only definition in the database? the 'not want' is missing
-----------------------------------

Editor: In 2016, an anonymous user proposed adding "not want".
That proposal was rejected by me, and I gave a reason.

This is a convention adopted by many dictionaries; it's not just us.

The idea is, if a user encounters 不想, they should not only look at the entry for 不想, but also the entries for 不 and 想 (unless they are already familiar with those two characters). If they do that, they will realize that 不想 could mean "not want" or "not miss" or "not think" etc.
For example, in the following sentence, 不想 means "not miss".

有著四、五十年的回憶,想不想台灣呢?
"... with 40 or 50 years of memories from the island, one wonders if miss their lives there."

One way of explaining our policy is that we, like other dictionaries, want to be concise, and avoid the redundancy inherent in including senses like "not want" for 不想 when we already have an entry that says 不 means "not" and another entry that says 想 means "want".
