The idea of #2 is that we can leave it to the app to insert the definition of 舂, so there is no need for us to do so. Since we haven't documented format #1 for developers, I think we should go with #2 here. If "variant of 舂[chong1]" referred to another sense (different from "to strike; to pound") then I would have no problem with the submitted format: /to strike/to pound/variant of 舂[chong1]/ ... except that nowadays we'd use a semicolon: /to strike; to pound/variant of 舂[chong1]/ That would explicitly indicate two distinct senses: - to strike; to pound - variant of 舂[chong1] (which would be wrong for the character we're discussing, 摏, since it only has one meaning) |
