<< review queue entry 70760 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> "nominate" often means "Propose or formally enter as a candidate for election or for an honor or award." https://www.lexico.com/en/definition/nominate e.g. ‘Three candidates have been nominated for each vacant seat.’ However, I see no evidence in dicts or by looking through TP etc that 推選 has this sense. 推選 always implies that the person/thing is actually *selected* rather than just *put forward for selection*. LA 推荐選拔。 例 「推選幹部」、「推選辦法」。 It seems to me the literal meaning of their definition 推荐選拔 is "(recommend) and (select)" rather than "(recommend) for (selection)". Certainly that's what NA NC ABC & K definitions all imply. TP 每年由工會在業界推選出八名洗身穿衣的業者來, Every year the funeral sector union selects eight morticians to work at Hsinchu, 為提升酒品,通過評鑑的酒莊,每年可以推選2至3支招牌酒參加農委會舉辦的酒品評鑑, To raise the quality of Taiwan's wines and spirits, every year wineries are invited to select two or three of their products to take part in a wine and spirits contest organized by the COA. |
