Editor: It's not incorrect English when an adjective follows "stand".
Here are some examples:
- standing tall
- standing firm
- standing idle
etc.

Reputable sources provide many examples of "stand proud".

E.g. "It will stand proud in the museum as a symbol of the spirit of unity and dedication that brought people together at ground zero."
