1) "impression" has several senses, including some that are not part of the meaning of 印象, such as
a) An imitation of a person or thing, done to entertain.
‘he did an impression of Shirley Bassey’
b) A mark impressed on a surface.
‘the impression of his body on the leaves’
‘Your dentist will take impressions of your teeth’

Those two senses don't match LA's definition of 印象:
留存於記憶中的意象。
例 「印象深刻」、「印象很好」、「印象模糊」、「這件事我沒甚麼印象」。

Nor MoE's:
感官受到外界刺激而留存於心中的意象。
如:「印象深刻」、「第一次的約會,她刻意精心打扮,想讓對方留下一個好印象。」


2) As for "a memory", this is an appropriate gloss for examples like LA's 「這件事我沒甚麼印象」 (i.e., when 印象 appears after 有 or 沒).
