<< review queue entry 69773 - submitted by 'gabor111' >> My edit to "重口味" might need further edits, it seems both phrases can refer both to the food and the person liking such food. https://www.sohu.com/a/329725327_99925041 https://www.chinesewords.org/en/%E5%8F%A3%E5%91%B3%E9%87%8D examples for A (sb who likes savory (salty, spicy, oily) food with strong flavors): 厨师是广东人,但是烧的是川菜,据说是从俏江南挖过来的,所以菜统一偏辣,但是味道还是不错的,色面也不错,适合我们口味重的,嘿嘿! examples B (savory food with strong flavors): ----------------------------------- Editor: tldr, I consider it a construct. A) You have submitted definitions for 口味重的, not 口味重. 口味重 is neither a person, nor a food. 的 means "a person or thing that ...". E.g. 打字的 is a typist (a person that types), and 辣的 is spicy food (a thing that is spicy). 口味 has two senses: 1. preference (in food) 2. flavor So 口味重的 can be analyzed as either 1. 口味(preference (in food)) (is for) 重(heavy (flavors)) 的 (person) i.e. person whose preference in food is heavy flavors, or 2. 口味(flavor) 重(is heavy) 的 (thing) i.e. strongly flavored food B) 口味重, the expression you submitted, on the other hand, means 1. taste preference is heavy (i.e. strong) 2. flavor is heavy (i.e. strong) (It's "heavy" as in "go heavy on the salt".) So it's a fairly straightforward combination of 口味 and 重, both of which we have in the dictionary. Similarly, 气味重 would be "the aroma is heavy (strong)". I don't think we need an entry for 气味重.* * 气味重 appears in your example 大蒜口味重,气味更重。 (The flavor of the garlic is strong, and its aroma is even stronger.) There are various other similar expressions: These can be considered constructs. We don't need to write a definition for each one. |
