Plain "chauvinism" seems like a more apt definition 沙文主義. Below are some examples of 沙文主義 where "jingoism" wouldn't be an apt translation. 1) 也可能是女性想逃離傳統農村的男性沙文主義； or maybe because women want to escape traditional rural male chauvinism. 2) 今年台北市客家文化節展開前，主辦單位民政局召開了一場記者會。不料因為會中使用以客語為主的發言方式，引起記者退席抗議。在「講什麼嘛！聽不懂，走了走了！」「怎麼客家 也搞起沙文主義？」的埋怨聲中， Just before the opening of this year's Hakka culture festival, a press conference was called by the festival's organizer, the Taipei City Government's Bureau of Civil Affairs.
