(a) seems unlikely because, for example, it seems that 9 is pronounced "káu" in Taiwanese, which is rather different from both Taiwanese 囧 "tsiòng" and Mandarin 九 "jiǔ". Nor can I see how (b) would be correct. Regarding (c), Taiwanese has the term 八家將[pat-ka-tsiòng]. https://www.moedict.tw/'%E5%85%AB%E5%AE%B6%E5%B0%87 So 八嘎囧 (pinyin "bāgājiǒng") looks like a way of representing *in Mandarin* the Taiwanese way of pronouncing 八家將, since "bāgājiǒng" looks similar to Tai-lo "pat-ka-tsiòng". If that is the case, then 八嘎囧 could be said to be derivative of 八家將, rather than the other way around. |
