<< review queue entry 69286 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> "public charge" is wrong or misleading. It means "a person who is in economic distress and is supported at government expense". "sue" is misleading because an *individual* may sue, but 公诉 refers to *public* prosecution (prosecution by the *state* -- see M's def below). Article 136 All cases requiring initiation of a public prosecution shall be examined for decision by the People's Procuratorates. The 3 suspects have been prosecuted for crimes of environmental pollution. Public prosecution guarantees that those responsible for criminal conduct will be prosecuted. |
