I think "veinstone" is correct, but the definition of "veinstone" is wrong -- it contains ore, not necessarily precious metal.

Oxford:
veinstone: another term for gangue
gangue: The commercially valueless material in which ore is found.
ore: A naturally occurring solid material from which a metal or valuable mineral can be extracted profitably.

礦石中與有用礦物伴生的岩石。
(有用礦物 doesn't mean "precious metal")
Diff:
- 脈石 脉石 [mai4 shi2] /veinstone (stone containing a vein of precious metal)/
