"lying-in" means "the state attending and consequent to childbirth". HDC's definition is 方言。产妇。坐月子的妇女。 产妇 means a woman going through childbirth (which is indeed "a woman in late pregnancy") or recovering in the period after childbirth. And 坐月子的妇女 means a woman convalescing after childbirth.
