Less is more. For example, "caress" and "touch lightly" suggest -- incorrectly, as far as I can see -- that it can be a case of someone gently laying a hand on somebody or something. I've reduced the number of glosses from eight to four. Does 拂 mean "approach" when followed by any noun other than 晓? If not, I would not include that sense. I don't think "fling" is apt -- 拂 doesn't mean "throw". Other dictionaries describe the action in 拂袖而起 as a "flick". |
