<< review queue entry 67400 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> pavement 1 a. A hard smooth surface, especially of a public area or thoroughfare, that will bear travel. b. The material with which such a surface is made. 2. (Chiefly British) A sidewalk. https://ahdictionary.com/word/search.html?q=pavement To me (in .au), "pavement" almost always means "sidewalk" (sense 2). 路面 doesn't have that meaning. "road surface" seems like a clearer definition. TP 「當巢的選擇越靠近道路、高度離路面較高、與巢洞越深,鳥巢的繁殖成功率也大為提高,」羅柳墀在「栗背林鴝繁殖及營巢地點選擇」研究報告中寫道。 "The proximity of nest sites to the road, their height above the road surface, and the depth of the nest hole, showed significant positive correlation with breeding success," writes Lo Liu-chih in his report. |
