Not a noun: it's adverb+verb+noun (大 + 放 + 光明) -- literally, "considerably emit light".

M has the figurative sense, and it looks like there's an example of it below (the first TP example)

「民國八十三年吧,那一年,來了好幾萬人,不但十分地區無法提供餐飲,交通也完全癱瘓,」胡民樹述說著平溪天燈開始大放光明的過程。
[The association was launching more than 100 lanterns at once, and with the help of the news media, word of the event traveled fast.]
> "In 1994 tens of thousands of people came, but Shihfen couldn't feed them all, and traffic was paralyzed," says Hu, recalling the period when Pinghsi's lanterns first began to get a lot of attention.

電燈必須通上電,才能大放光明,
A lamp needs electricity to shine.

1878年美國科學家愛迪生發明了電燈,從此人類世界大放光明。
Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb in 1878, in effect shining a light on humanity.

或許是看到燈泡大放光明時,發射出的那道璀燦之光,而有了創業的夢想吧!」黃君豪娓娓道來剛創業時初生之犢的勇氣。
It was probably the brilliant rays of light shooting out of these bright bulbs that started us dreaming about going into business for ourselves.”

陶瓷燈原本在室內使用,如果要運用在戶外,只要防水、防塵以及反射效果做得好,將可讓這顆小小燈泡在道路、工廠、公共場所等大面積的空間,達成極佳的照明效果,可在黑夜中大放光明,點亮城市夜空。
CDM lamps were originally designed for interior use, but with good water and dust protection and good reflectors they can also provide outstanding illumination to large exterior spaces, including streets, factories, and public areas.

如今,公司產品在南台灣部分街道,以及愛河畔大樓的最高點,大放光明。
The company’s products are now illuminating streets in southern Taiwan, and are also mounted atop skyscrapers along the banks of Kaohsiung’s Love River.
