<< review queue entry 66480 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> 1) /(of vegetables) to become hollow or spongy inside/ See PLC LA ----------------------- 2) /(of a basketball) to swish through (not touching the hoop)/ See M LA. Web snippets using the phrase "swish through": - "It swished through, sending the game into a third overtime. " - "The ball swished through the hoop and the crowd went wild." Web: He took an unbelievable three-pointer and swished. ------------------------ 3) By 2003, we had the following entry 空心 [kong1 xin1] /(adj) hollow/(adj) hollow headed; mindless/ Miles in 2007 changed that to - 空心 空心 [kong1 xin1] /(adj) hollow/(adj) hollow headed; mindless/ + 空心 空心 [kong1 xin1] /hollow/empty headed/mindless/ But I can't see anything in any dictionary like "hollow headed" or "mindless". Except Wiktionary, which has "having nothing in mind", which is something different again. I think we should leave out that sort of thing unless we can find something to support it. |
