Chinese friend brought up this slang term when we were talking about excercise. See also the 百度百科 entry at https://baike.baidu.com/item/%E6%92%B8%E9%93%81/22060039

【Today's Word】撸铁 lū tiě
撸 is an action, meaning to roll up, like roll up sleeves. 铁 = iron. 撸铁 is another word for 健身, working out. It especially refers to strength training.
我几乎每天去健身房撸铁。(Wǒ jīhū měitiān qù jiànshēnfáng lūtiě.)
I go to the gym to work out almost everyday.
