TP ~ 美國既然在十五年後即無法在軍事上屈服中國,
Within 15 years the US will be unable to militarily defeat China.

甚至只要祭出消基會名號,就能屈服對方。
In many cases, a recalcitrant business person will concede if you just mention the Consumers Foundation.

Also, PLC has "subdue".

If it's an *intransitive* verb, it often has 于 or 向 before the *indirect* object (the other party, to whom one submits.)
e.g. 他们向他屈服了

But if there is a *direct* object, as in the examples above, it seems it means "prevail over".
Diff:
- 屈服 屈服 [qu1 fu2] /to surrender/to yield/
+ 屈服 屈服 [qu1 fu2] /to surrender/to succumb/to yield/(as a transitive verb) to defeat/to prevail over/
