<< review queue entry 63505 - submitted by 'polaris' >> emerging market 新兴市场;emerging democracies 新兴民主政权 From Cambridge English - Chinese Dictionary ------------------------------------------ Editor: Yes, "emerging" is a good gloss to have here. Some of the others, like "up-and-coming" don't seem quite as good. "up-and-coming" is predominantly used to describe people, whereas 新興 isn't. Example of 新興 used to describe an emerging infectious disease: 過去H7N9在歷史上從未造成過人類的死亡,這是有史以來第一次,完全符合新興傳染病的定義。 Historically, H7N9 hadn’t previously caused any human deaths before this time. But now it meets the definition of an emerging infectious disease. |
