<< review queue entry 63328 >> Although this is sometimes called Dutchman's Pipe Cactus, there is a plant more commonly called Dutchman's Pipe (Aristolochia macrophylla), so that is confusing. Epiphyllum oxypetalum is a cactus that is commonly called Queen of the Night. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aristolochia -------------------------------------------- Editor: That's the whole point of giving the scientific name — it tells you which Dutchman's pipe it is. Also, a) Both Wikipedia and Britannica call it "Dutchman's pipe cactus". https://www.britannica.com/plant/Caryophyllales/media/97659/140219 b) Aristolochia macrophylla isn't a cactus, so "Dutchman's pipe cactus" isn't so ambiguous. (Admittedly, "Dutchman's Pipe" was ambiguous, though.) Anyway, thanks for suggesting that we include "Queen of the Night cactus". |
