1) These days, 爆雷 is commonly used in the context of P2P lending platforms:
超過一百家P2P平台爆雷,成百上千萬投資人捲入其中,

It's also written 暴雷:
"Yet within merely 6 months this year, over 700 P2P platforms have collapsed, or as the Chinese media put it, exploded (暴雷)."

The 爆雷 variant is used on the mainland in the P2P context, not just in Taiwan:
GV ~ "爆雷" site:.cn - About 1,130,000 results
e.g. P2P爆雷潮并非首次出现。

2) "reveal a spoiler"
a) I don't approve this phrasing. Spoilers are not plot details. They are *remarks* that reveal plot details.
You don't "reveal" such remarks, you "include" them (for example) in your review etc.

b) 爆雷 as a noun (a "spoiler"):
新iPhone 叫做「X」:蘋果史上最大爆雷,這次不是意外而是工程師不爽了?

3) 暴雷 thunderclap
See PLC, M, K, GR
Diff:
- 爆雷 爆雷 [bao4 lei2] /(slang) to reveal a spoiler (Tw)/
+ 爆雷 爆雷 [bao4 lei2] /(of a P2P lending platform) to collapse/(Tw) (slang) to reveal plot details/spoiler/
+ 暴雷 暴雷 [bao4 lei2] /thunderclap/(of a P2P lending platform) to collapse/
