It seems 石像鬼 are used for what are technically grotesques, but that isn't different from most European languages, we also tend to call grotesques gargoyles. Since 滴水嘴兽 includes 滴水, it's more or less safe to assume it refers to actual gargoyles. Both 石像鬼 and 滴水嘴兽 are used in fantasy games and books for gargoyle as a monster.

Chinese Wikipedia calls it 雨漏 (“雨漏,又称滴水嘴兽,是建筑输水管道喷口终端的一种雕饰”) but I haven't seen evidence this is commonly used. Wikipedia itself doesn't link to any Chinese language external page.

Flanking this are statues of their beast forms: the griffin and the gargoyle.

Arthas: The gargoyles we brought back from Northrend could be useful here.

I have to be triggered by something out of the ordinary, like noticing that I'm carrying a gargoyle.

Maybe I should ask the gargoyle. He doesn’t seem to speak English.
