<< review queue entry 61537 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> 1) 任期 doesn't only mean "term of office". It can also refer to an official's *tenure* (entire period in office, possibly including two or more terms). 2) "term of office" example: Lee Teng-hui, in his inaugural address at the start of his third term in office as president of the ROC, said 這個盛會,不僅是中華民國第九任總統、副總統任期的開始,更是國家前途與民族命運嶄新的開端。 Here, 總統任期 (in 第九任總統任期) means "ROC presidential term of office (held by anyone, not just Lee)." (It was the start of Lee's 3rd term as president, not his 9th!) Lee was the 4th president, so 第九任總統任期 doesn't refer to his (entire) presidency (or "tenure"). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Presidents_of_the_Republic_of_China 3) "tenure" example: The following refers to the 8 years (including 2 terms) of Chen Shui-bian's presidency. 然而,8年總統任期,已將絕大多數民眾對他的擁戴與信任摧毀殆盡, But during his presidency he completely lost the allegiance of the public. 4) K @ 任期 ~ term of office; tenure of office (No doubt copied from ACE, which has the same definition.) |
