<< review queue entry 61128 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> Qincheng Prison is a maximum security penitentiary. It is the major prison in China for incarceration of political prisoners. Those imprisoned here include the 1989 Tiananmen Square protestors, other political dissidents, and corrupt top government officials. Currently, the vast majority of the convicted government officials at the province and department level in China are incarcerated in Qincheng Prison. Most of them are corrupt top party cadres. Due to the political significance of its inmates, Qincheng Prison is placed under the administration of the Public Security Bureau. All the other prisons in China are under the authority of the Department of Justice. http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/9781118845387.wbeoc036/abstract http://www.scmp.com/news/china/policies-politics/article/1833273/chinas-qincheng-prison-tigers-cage |
