I came across this term repeatedly when researching Tibet, referring e.g. to a
822 treaty between Tibet and China inscribed in a stone pillar in Lhasa (唐蕃
會盟). The term is also in the ABC Chinese-English Comprehensive Dictionary
by John DeFrancis .
