No hyphen in "volleyball" (AHD, MW, Oxford).
-------------------------

GR, K, PLC suggest it's a "round" in boxing. See also J (most sentences are about boxing).
The term "bout" means "a wrestling or boxing match" so what do the following terms mean?
- a bout of a sporting competition?
- a bout of a boxing match? (= a bout of a bout!)
- a bout of a confrontation?
"round" seems like a better word for all these contexts.
A "bout' is more like 場:
目前的賽制中,每場比賽僅要3回合、每回合3分鐘就能決定勝負,
Modern competitive bouts are fast-paced and quickly decided: each consists of only three rounds of three minutes each.

PLC says "round; bout" but in both examples, the meaning is "round" (of a boxing match)
TP ~ [golf] 十三日第三回合的第十六洞,the sixteenth hole of the third round,
Uruguay Round negotiations
----------------------

Other dicts don't mention the rally sense but Z has
The following sentence sounds like tennis, but 回合 here means "round":
He was upset in the third round of the men's singles.

Editor:
In the context of a soccer tournament, 首回合 and 次回合 are the first and second "legs" played between the same two teams within a round (圈).

Wp ~ In the later rounds of UEFA Champions League of football (soccer), each fixture is played over two legs. The scores of each leg are added, and the team with the higher aggregate score wins the fixture, with away goals used as a tiebreaker and a penalty shoot out if away goals cannot determine a winner of the game.

A frame in billiards refers to one game of a series of games that make up a match. The frame begins with the rack and break, and ends when one player clears all required balls for a win, a player commits a losing foul, or a player concedes the game. Each billiard match is made up of multiple frames, and each frame is made of at least one inning.
Diff:
- 回合 回合 [hui2 he2] /round (of negotiations)/bout (of sporting competition, boxing match, confrontation etc)/rally (in volley-ball, tennis etc)/
# + 回合 回合 [hui2 he2] /round (of negotiations, a boxing match, sports competition etc)/encounter/confrontation/
+ 回合 回合 [hui2 he2] /one of a sequence of contests (or subdivisions of a contest) between the same two opponents/round (boxing etc)/rally (tennis etc)/frame (billiards etc)/inning/(tennis, soccer etc) rubber or leg/round (of negotiations)/
