There is a small difference. Checking thru various examples of use I see no reason to change my opinion. /focus/ seems justified by numerous examples like 为了节省时间，请大家尽量针对问题来讨论。 /counter/ doesn't seem necessary, it's just an "ad hoc" gloss 2. many Ch dicts do not give more than one gloss. It sounds strange that the meaning changes so much between verb and preposition. (I personally do not make much difference between verb and preposition) GF does give a special "preposition" def: (介) 引进有明确目的的行为对象。 针对大家提出的问题，他一一作了回答。 which doesn't sound like "in light of" Example on ACE is ～儿童的特点进行教育 where I am unconvinced that it's "in accordance with", i.e. the action is a result of their peculiarities; I think the action is aimed at their peculiarities. similar examples from TP: 針對青年學子要找工作時，常常「不知道自己到底想做什麼？適合做什麼？」歐洲國家也鼓勵學校... to solve the problem of students not knowing what they want to do or what they are suited for, European nations encourage schools... 針對此一矛盾 [in response to this contradiction] |
