/to clear up/to dissipate/ suggests that it might be transitive ("to clear sth up").

Also, the examples given in the original sub were
1) 面对这宁静的良宵美景,他的烦恼不禁涣然冰释了。
2) 我们之间的误会涣然冰释。

Re:#2 You don't say "the misunderstanding cleared up". You say "the misunderstanding has been cleared up"
And it would be clunky to have a gloss like /(of misunderstandings etc) to be cleared up/

And "melt away" and "dissipate" are better glosses for the first example.
