1) I guess it's not "lit." -- it's actually the original meaning.

2) Our definition makes it sound like something that's on the lips of many people.
It seems, however, that it can be something more personal, like a pet phrase etc.
LA says 也作「口頭語」, which we define as /pet phrase/regularly used expression/manner of speaking/
