LA

PLC, ABC and K all use the plural form ("components") in their definitions.
(Maybe the influence of ACE again?)
But I think it can be singular:
Web ~

J ~
a Chinese character component; a radical on one side of a character
Diff:
- 偏旁 偏旁 [pian1 pang2] /the left- and right-side of a split Chinese character, often the key (radical) and phonetic/
# + 偏旁 偏旁 [pian1 pang2] /component of a Chinese character/
+ 偏旁 偏旁 [pian1 pang2] /component of a Chinese character (as the radical or the phonetic part)/
