<< review queue entry 58433 - submitted by 'richwarm' >> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okara_(food) or "soymilk dregs"? ---------------------------------------------- Editor: "soybean dregs" doesn't seem to have much currency as a term. And as an explanatory definition, I think it falls down because "soybean dregs" sounds like a contradiction in terms unless you already know what 豆渣 is. "dregs" is sediment contained in a liquid — but soybeans aren't normally thought of as being liquid. 豆渣 is actually the dregs of the liquid produced by soaking soybeans for some hours, then blending (and boiling) them. When I make soymilk, I feed the okara to the worms in my worm farm. They turn it into castings, which are used as a fertilizer :-) |
