Tidying.

Can be transitive:
J ~ He aimed at the black spot and missed. 他瞄准黑点,但没打中。

In the fig. sense, the "for" should be *outside* the brackets:
"to aim for (sth)" rather than "to aim (for sth)"
e.g. 瞄準新興市場 = to aim for + rising + markets
Or replace "to aim for" with "to target"
(瞄準新興市場 = to target + rising + markets)

Fig. examples ~
公益團體則瞄準民眾的「愛心潛力」,準備開發更多的義工;
Volunteer organizations, on the other hand, took aim at people's desire to "do some good" and arranged even more volunteer activities for them.
瞄準高科技校友
Targeting high-tech alumni
中文字幕嘉惠的是台灣觀眾,但新聞專題的製作,則完全瞄準了老外的胃口
The Chinese headlines may please the locals, but the content is still chosen to suit foreign audiences.

Or should we just go with sth simple like
/to take aim at/to target/ ?
(I would.)
Diff:
- 瞄準 瞄准 [miao2 zhun3] /to aim (a weapon at a target)/fig. to aim (for a higher standard)/
# + 瞄準 瞄准 [miao2 zhun3] /to aim a weapon at/(fig.) to target (a market segment etc)/
+ 瞄準 瞄准 [miao2 zhun3] /to take aim at/to target/
