I tend to equate this word to "lesson (learnt)", and it has occurred to me that this can be called a "moral"

when you ask a kid
这个故事的启示是什么?
you are not asking about enlightenment or revelation, but simply, what is the moral of this story, what do we learn from this story?

Editor: hm, seems this word has really been bothering me...
Diff:
# - 啟示 启示 [qi3 shi4] /to reveal/to enlighten/enlightenment/revelation/illumination/
- 啟示 启示 [qi3 shi4] /to reveal/to enlighten/enlightenment/revelation/illumination/lesson/
+ 啟示 启示 [qi3 shi4] /to reveal/to enlighten/enlightenment/revelation/illumination/moral (of a story etc)/lesson/
