(for the first four glosses) blind copying of FLTRP's definition, which is repeated in countless other dicts (see the list at the foot of this comment*) 2. (for the last gloss) the observation by Julien that the "standard definition" doesn't work for an expression like 摆造型 (to strike a pose) Definitions based on the words "mold" and "model" leave a lot to be desired. For example: 1) The first word of the definition, "modeling" can mean any of the following things - fashioning an object in clay or wax etc. - using sth or sb as an example to follow or imitate - setting an example for others to follow or imitate - displaying clothes by wearing them - (in painting, drawing, and photography) giving a 3D appearance to sth by means of shading or highlighting etc. And the second gloss "mold-making" doesn't help much to clarify which of these senses is intended. 2) Actual examples of usage in TP and J suggest many other glosses that might shed light on the meaning, such as formation; form arrangement posing; pose configuration design shaping; shape fashioning styling; style visual composition look; appearance etc. Here are some examples from sources like J and TP for which glosses like "modelling" and "mold-making" are not very helpful: 摆造型 to strike a pose 造型師負責造型、動畫師負責加上動作 Designers are responsible for designing the characters, animators are responsible for adding movements 定點、連線、設計質感、作細部處理，三Ｄ立體造型就是這樣一步步完成的。 Defining points and lines, designing textures, performing detailed rendering-3D design is carried out step by step in this way. 造型跳伞 formation skydiving 家具的造型很美观 The design of the furniture is elegant. 造型師 stylist or designer 树木造型 topiary work of tree and shrub 造型宽松流畅 loose-fitting and smooth style 造型技术 formative technique 造型迷人 attractive appearance 编辫子以编织方式给（头发）造型 To style (the hair) by such interweaving. 造型活泼 vivid shapes --------------------------------------------------------------- * Definitions found in C-E dicts: A ~ n. ①modeling; mold-making ②model; mold FE ~ 1. modeling; mold-making 2. a model; a mold 3.
