I suspect "cold words" is Chinglish (character-by-character translation).
"cold words" means "unfriendly words" to me, whereas NC, for example, suggests that 冷语 is more specifically sarcasm.
Eg "You're not welcome here." – those are cold words, but they aren't sarcastic.
