present def obviously copied from some dict (see Z), why should it be heads? "check numbers" conveys little to me.
In fact 點數 is often said of counting _money_; several examples on J

LA (f.i.)
1. 查點數目。例 「對到會的選舉人進行點數」。
2. 購物累積的分數。例 「信用卡累積的點數,足以換取一組刮鬍刀」。

That 2nd sense is largely illustrated on TP. The meaning is clear but my def is tentative
Diff:
- 點數 点数 [dian3 shu4] /to count heads/to check numbers/
+ 點數 点数 [dian3 shu4] /to count and check/to tally/points (collected in some bonus scheme etc)/
