' common sense' in several instances on J, one step better. Not totally satisfied. It's difficult to find examples which would definitely show the meaning, independently from English rendering. LA example: 「按常情，兒女會孝順父母的」 J example: According to the normal,I should accept her invitation. 按照常情，我应该接受她的邀请。 Dicts would have us translate "it stands to reason that..." But I think it's more "common sentiment", "conventional attitude" K has also ◊ normal occurrence which, well, sounds like a likely abbreviation. |
