(following discussion with Matic) In English, at least, it seems that single-word common nouns are usually not capitalized, even when they are derived from somebody's name. E.g. daguerreotype – Louis Daguerre fullerene – Buckminster Fuller loganberry – James Harvey Logan etc. Let me know if there's a different rule for Pinyin.
