Both of those include "lunchbox" in the definition. AHD says that means "A reusable container, usually with a handle, designed for storing and carrying one's lunch." which is what I would have said a lunchbox is. But LA says 飯盒 and 便當 mean what 盒饭 means. And the other gloss for 飯盒 is "mess tin". So the whole definition of 飯盒 (lunchbox; mess tin) gives the impression that it's only a container for food, whereas LA says it can mean 裝有飯菜的盒餐. editor: following suggestion |
